Stephie Butler

Having enjoyed drawing from a young age I went on to make my career as a draughtswoman, spending my spare time creating in one way or another, I started painting around 2004, being inspired after seeing the wonderful work of UK artist, Faye Whittaker.

Almost totally self taught, mainly through practice and experimenting, although since then I have been on a few workshops. The first with Frankie Cummings, and most recently that of Trevor Waugh whose work I greatly admire. Watercolour is my first love, but more recently I have tried oils and pastels. Most subjects inspire me, but over the past year I have come to love portraits and those of children in particular, and am now accepting commissions.

This past year has been a very exciting one for me, stepping out of comfort zone to give my first workshop, which was held in Dubai. With the generous help of two wonderful friends, professional artist Christopher Southcombe and his wife, retired Gallery Manager, Patricia it was a huge success.

I went on to join two Art clubs, one of which selected two of my paintings for an exhibition in Mayfair, London, along with further exhibitions and my first solo exhibition.
